Woodland walks

We took 50 IKEA FAMILY members and children out to College Wood. This wood is run by the Woodland Trust and each IKEA store has its own adopted forest.

We were blessed with good weather and we went on nature trails and played games with the children. It was a lovely afternoon and a great way of saying thank you to some of the families that have helped create it!

Did you know that the UK is one of the least wooded countries in Europe with only 4% native woodland cover?  The Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conversation charity, is in partnership with IKEA to create new UK woodland for the benefit of people, wildlife and the environment.

Every time the IKEA FAMILY card is swiped in-store a ‘foot of forest’ is created. Since the partnership began in November 2007, 210 acres of woodland have been created – the equivalent to 117 football pitches – raising over £900,000 for the charity.

As an IKEA Family member you get 25% discount on entry to Woodland Trust parks and the Nature Detectives Club which has amazing materials for you to download to plan your own nature trails and adventures! For more information visit http://www.ikeafamilyforest.co.uk/
